Old Grand Dad 86p
A semi-old, Old Grand Dad. Got this bottle from a client who knew I loved Bourbon and didn’t think much of the gift at the time, but as I opened it 6 months ago and got into the bottle, I am most appreciative to him for the learning curve Bourbon.

Old Grand Dad, 86 Proof
ABV: 43% // 86 proof
Distillery: Jim Beam
Release: 2000’s
Mash Bill: 63/27/10
Color: Rich Copper
Nose: Very nice, old fashioned style nose; noses bolder than 86 proof. Old fashioned candy, shoe polish, charred marshmallow, candied walnuts, Heath Bar. Unexpectedly sour in certain areas, but overall a good nose.
Palate: Silky. Walnut butter, butterscotch candies, polished oak (furniture), cough syrup-y medicinal. More Heath Bar. Mellow bitterness. Lacking really any layers of depth & complexity. I would have liked to have seen more here, especially considering the nose.
Finish: Short. Butterscotch and Werther’s candies. Cough syrup. Slightly dusty & slightly forgettable.
